Committees



Committee: Representation [Convenor - Neil Craddock]

Responsibilities: Liaison with government and government departments, fostering co-operative relationships with other professional associations, development of political strategies and co-ordination of lobbying efforts in order to achieve the OAA’s political objectives. Participation on this Committee does require a significant degree of understanding of the NSW and Australian political process.




Committee: Communications [Convenor - Christine Craigie]

Responsibilities: This committee and its sub-committees are responsible for the promotion of the profession and the Association to its various "external" markets – the public, other health professionals, optometry undergraduate students and prospective students, government departments and industry. An emerging focus of this committee will be the promotion of optometry to various industry and government sectors with a view to expanding the scope of career paths available to optometrists.




Committee: Professional Development [Convenor - Albert Lee]

Responsibilities: The PD Committee takes responsibility for all aspects of the development of educational and professional standards for the OAA[NSW]. This includes the preparation of CPD courses and seminars, the formulation and, through delegation from Council, enforcement of ethical standards and the recommendation to Council of ways in which the professional standards and standing of optometry can be enhanced.
